What is your favorite race track?

I've only been to 1 racetrack ever for Nascar. It's Watkins Glen,NY. I'm about 1 hour from the Glen. I love it!

The atmosphere, the tailgating, it's awesome.

Where is your favorite race track? Are you one of the lucky ones to have been to many races?

My favorite track is Atlanta Motor Speedway. Probably because I live about 20 minutes from the track and it's the only one I get to go to!

I have visited Talladega, awesome, especially when looking at the high banking from the infield. I went to a NASCAR race in Phoenix, the size of the parking lot and the number of people in the stands blew me away, never been anywhere where such a large crowd had gathered.
On TV about the only NASCAR races I watch is the Daytona 500, maybe the Indy 400, but love the races from Sonoma and Watkins Glen with the later being my favorite.

Wow, you've been to a lot of places. I can only wish. I keep saying I will get out there to more race tracks.

There is just something about watching the race in person versus on TV. TV is boring to me.

I'm a lucky guy to have had opportunities to travel both for business and for fun, hopefully my luck hasn't run out, now that I'm retired.
As far as watching a race live, versus the TV, you just can't compare, the noise, the atmosphere, the adrenaline rush and the thing that really surprised me at Phoenix (I was sitting just coming out of turn 4) was how much sideways these cars get, on TV they hardly seem to slide, but live, man, they slide big time, that was really enjoyable to watch. When I started to race in the late sixties, you would powerslide a car in the turns, as a result I've always been partial to hanging the tail out
That's why I'm no big fan of front wheel drive

I'm 100% with you on live races versus watching them on TV. On TV I tend to get bored. I love the atmosphere at the races, just like any sport.

Do you watch any local races too? I even enjoy going to dirt track races in the next town.

We have a dirt track south of Winnipeg, I've been there a few time, but I'm really more into road courses than oval racing and its been a few years since I've been at Gimli Motorsport Park, where I raced in the late seventies and early eighties.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is nice and while its closer to my home now, growing up the closest was Martinsburg (which I hear is still pretty decent, though I have not been back in over a decade now).

I don't really have a favorite track, but I guess I would be partial to the one I've seen several times in Toronto used for the Toronto Honda Indy, formerly the Molson Indy. I expect it's not as favored as most of the "dedicated" tracks - They shut down some city streets to make this course.

A friend of mine used to like going to the Michigan 500.

After today, my favorite track is Martinsville! That's where I watched my first race, and I think that it'll be always one of my favorites, just because it was my first.
