    Local "Hobby" Stock Car Racing

The first live racing events I saw were back when I was about 12, going to the local stock car races with my family.

The stock cars were basically somebody's hobbies, I think. But I found them very exciting.

Has anybody else here watched racing at that more modest level?

I have! Because I live so close to Atlanta Motor Speedway we get to go to all kinds of smaller races and a lot of times it's just little kids. Not something I would let my kid do but still fun to watch.

I first became interested in racing in general through my local stock car tracks. We would go as a family on weekends to watch the races. I was probably about 12 or 13 at the time we started going. In fact, I watched Tony Stewart race at my local track when he first started out, long before he ever made the NASCAR circuit.

Yes I have and that is where my love for racing came from too. I can remember going to the old dirt track races. Man they were messy but tons of fun!
We have a pretty low-key speedway here by me now. I take my family often to watch.
