Mark Martin - nice guy or not?

I realize a lot of folks like Mark Martin, but I'm not really one of them. He has cost four young drivers spots that they had earned. Because of Martin's wishy washy, I'm retired/not retired/driving part time/no full time, game playing, Regan Smith, Aric Armirola, Landon Cassil, and Brad Kesolowski have all been shoved to aside. Poor Landon was Rookie of the Year in Nationwide last year and has driven again until this weekend, all because of Mark Martin. What happened to Mark wanting to spend time with his son, helping his son's career, being there to watch him grow up? Apparently, it doesn't matter as much as him being able to turn left himself for months on end. He's a whiner and he should have stayed retired or driven in trucks like he said he wanted to. Instead, he's making himself happy to the expense of those young drivers who deserve their shot instead of having their rides derailed to accommodate Martin. And yes, I know that it was my own favorite driver who talked the man into un-retiring, but no one is perfect.

I think there are two sides to every person and for him, we have seen some of them but not all. I can kind of relate on the retired/not though, sometimes people just can not give up something they have done for so long.

I like Mark Martin! So he changes his mind a lot, that is not a problem for me. I'm also a fan of Brett Favre and we know how much he changes his mind. I think Martin does a lot for Nascar and he is fun to watch.

Like I said, I know he's well liked by the NASCAR community. I just never took to him because he was so whiny, which he still is. I liked Regan Smith, and it irked me when he got shoved aside because of Martin's decisions. Ditto for the other guys I mentioned. Worse, I've never heard Mark Martin utter one word about how his choices have impacted these guys. He has a right to do whatever he wants. He's nothing special to me though.

He's kind of the Brett Favre of the racing world! I like him well enough and I agree that it has been hard for him to retire because he knows nothing but racing. However not everyone is going to like the same people so it's okay to dislike him for valid reasons.

I think maybe retiring was a little harder than he thought. It has to be difficult to just stand on the sidelines not doing something that has been such a big part of your life.

I agree about the retiring aspect-- tons of people I know have gone back to their jobs 'part-time'. I don't care for Mark Martin though. Even though he's fun to watch, his personality has never appealed. He is too whiny.

The whiny part of Mark's personality definitely gets to me. I also am tired of his "I don't care about the points" game that he's played all season long. Yes, he does, and he's driven like he does. It's a lie.
