    Dirt Tracks

I read about some of the drivers' enthusiasm for dirt tracks in a piece about the Prelude to a Dream at Eldora Speedway.

Do you have a preference for dirt tracks as a spectator?

What are dirt tracks? Do you mean that the tracks are made of dirt as opposed to paved? I bet that would be a very different sort of race! I've never been to one, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

I would prefer not. I have been to many local races that are dirt racetracks and they are messy. You get the dirt in your eyes and all over your body. They can't help it, dirt is dry and it just gets blowing around.

Yes I mean literally, dirt tracks. The first races I saw were stock car races on local dirt tracks, but I've not seen a race at a higher level on dirt.

I guess some of the early days of NASCAR go back to racing on dirt in Daytona.

The guys seem to love dirt racing. I don't really follow it, except to watch the Prelude when Jeff participates. Jeff doesn't do a lot of outside stuff, so when he does, it definitely is worth the watch.

I don't think I would want to be a spectator at a dirt track. Too much dust for me, but it might be fun to race on.

I wonder if they wet down the tracks at some point before the races to keep the dust down for the visibility of the drivers?

I'd think on some days that would be necessary.

I have never been to one but watching from home on the tube is decent. I kind of have a feeling if I went local and it was too messy as I would assume, my sinuses would be freaking out and it would not be nearly as enjoyable.

I have never been to a dirt track. It's on my list of things, if my wife would ever agree to go with me. I think it would be really fun. Maybe nI can get some guys to come with me.
