    Females in NASCAR

Just so y'all know, Danica is not the only woman driver out there trying to make it into the Sprint Car series. Of course, she has the edge. She's now made her first lap for ARCA. Courtesy of jayski, here are the others: Leilani Munter, driving the #59 Mark Gibson Racing Dodge; along with Alli Owens, Milka Duno, Jennifer Jo Cobb, Michelle Thoriault, Jill George, Alison MacLoud and Amber and Angela Cope [Derrike Cope's neices]

I knew there was a number of them, did not realize that there was that many. Good stuff, invariably, at least one should emerge and go onto the Sprint Cup.

Well let's hope 1 of them make it in. I'm not sure they will make it into Nascar but it would be great! Come on women! Nascar is ready for a women driver! Do you think the other drivers will gun for them to not win if they make it in?

I'm not sure the old school drivers want a female around, but I think the younger ones probably don't care. Many are pretty encouraging to women.

I think it would be a very exciting thing if one of the women made it into the Sprint Cup. I'm sure there would be a huge ordeal over it as well, since it would be another success for the women!

Women will eventually do everything that us men do. It is only a matter of time until they start showing us up. Well, at somethings anyway.

The last one with a real shot at it was Erin Crocker. Unfortunately, she made a stupid move. She had an affair with owner Ray Everham. Jeremy Mayfield spilled the beans. It ended her racing career, Everham got a divorce and out of NASCAR on a full time basis. The two got married earlier this year. It just really put a bad spin on things for sponsors, though.

Unfortunately, some women can still be convinced by a man that there is only one way for them to make it in a "man's world". They don't realize that when the fall for that mindset they just make it harder on all women. That is why it will help women if Danika can make it. She has already earned respect as both a woman and a driver.

I have no doubt that women will someday race side by side with men in any racing event. Women of today have been working on jobs where only men supposed to be working. This means that the era of gender differences on jobs is becoming history.

    Go ladies!

We can hope. That said, NASCAR's diversity program has never produced anything either. I refuse to believe that a person of color (any color) can't race with the big boys, and I don't believe they aren't interested. So why aren't there more people of color in racing?
