Kyle Petty's Take On Danica Patrick

I thought what Kyle Petty said about Danica Patrick definitely added to the pressure she's already under. He said "If she's not successful the only impact she'll have on the sport is she wasted two or three years on a car that a good driver could have been in."

Couldn't that be said about any driver?

    Here's the article: NASCAR.COM - Petty not completely sold on Patrick's NASCAR try - Jan 9, 2010

What do you think of what he said?

Well, Kyle has a vested interest in this. I mean, the man was fired from his own father's team. If I were him, I'd be a little tainted, not to mention upset.

I believe he is one of the people that thinks it's a man's world. You have to bash people that are not men.
I think he would have said it about any woman trying to enter.
I know I think less of him for saying it.

In part I believe it's intent. Women just haven't made it in NASCAR and really, she's not committing to NASCAR either. She's having the cake and the pie both. And meanwhile lots of drivers are still looking for rides.

I am amazed how insulting these guys were. Basically saying, hey she's not only a woman, she's really not that great of a driver. That she's getting in because she's a popular money making driver and it's all a marketing ploy. It be great if she kicked, well you know.

He said what he said because he can say that (not all could get away with it) and its true. It sounds really bad and shes decent, but shes not the best. She is female, and that gains a ton of attention.

I do agree that she isn't the best but really a racer such as Petty shouldn't be so rude to new drivers. I don't know, I'm not a big fan of Danica - but I would like to see her get in and do great as the 1st woman driver that I've watched.

It will be interesting to see how she does, especially after that remark.

I'm not familiar with her - Maybe she'll rise to the challenge and tear up the track.
