Thread: First Ever Ford Daytona 500 Pace Car

What do you think; long overdue, or not a good choice? What goes into choosing a pace car, anyhow? Personally, I'm not a big fan of the mustang - at least not the modern ones. If they had picked an older car to pace, I might have gotten excited.

I'm sure Ford is very happy about it. I'd love to know how that decision was made.

I am definitely starting to like the new Mustangs better than the ones from the last couple decades, but the style definitely took a dive somewhere there - Was it in the late 70s?

It was definitely in the '70s. The ones that came out in the '90s actually make me laugh out loud. I think the most recent ones are an improvement, but let's hope they keep moving in that direction with design - they need it!

It's fine with me. I really don't have a preference. To be honest, the TV guys barely mention the pace car so there's not that much made of it from where I sit.
