The Yellow Line Rule - Martin style

It's suspected that NASCAR will announce a change to the yellow line rule at Dega and Daytona. The racers don't seem to like the idea of taking the yellow line out of the equation. However, Mark Martin is tossing around an idea that the yellow line remains in effect EXCEPT on the final lap of the race and after turn 4. In other words, for that last dash from turn 4 to the finish line, anything goes. What do you think?

I think that NASCAR is catering to the spectators on this one; there have been instances where a race winner has been disqualified for crossing over the yellow line while passing another car. The spectators got all riled up, but the drivers knew that rules are rules.

Tell that to the racers. It would be for the fans, but we've had two controversial finishes in recent years because of that yellow line. If they make the change, that would clarify things quite a bit.

I thought I read somewhere that they did change the rule already by doing away with it, at least for those races. What do I think about it? It could make things a bit more exciting, but also I think we may see a few cars spinning their wheels on the grass.

I think its going to be very interesting to see how many people come out of the wood work both for and against this. Safety wise - anything goes could come at a bad price. Then again if the drivers know what they are doing and luck is on their side, who knows?

Anything goes? Wow, that sounds pretty fun to watch as a fan. I wonder how many hot headed racers will do anything to win and cause some major accident?
I can't wait to see how this one plays out.

Yes, an 'anything goes' attitude would add to the excitement. I just hope that everyone involved, from the drivers to the fans, are ready for what that could involve.

I can't wait to see what that will involve. I wonder if there are a lot of accidents if Nascar will change the rule back in the middle of the season. Can they change rules at any given time?

NASCAR can do whatever it wants to do whenever it wants to do it. They change rules all the time. Double file restarts are a good example.
