    Was Edwards wrong?

In Atlanta, Carl Edwards admittedly dumped Brad Keselowski, sending BK's flying into the air and rolling over. Of course, Carl didn't mean for BK to go into the air; he just wanted to spin him out. Considering the NASCAR has been very vocal this year about letting the drivers police themselves, was Edwards wrong to go for the spinout? If they penalize Edwards, are they sending a conflicting message?

    Yes he absolutely was.
That's one thing I detest about NASCAR, letting drivers banging each other is completely stupid in my opinion, given the potential disaster (I only saw pictures of the wreck) any driver provoking this kind of incident should be suspended for several races (something like 3 for a first offender)

He's only on probation for 3 weeks. That was announced today. The thing is, NASCAR is trying to get the fans back and the action. They literally told these guys to 'go at it' so how can they punish anyone for doing that? It's conflicting and that's my problem with even the probation. They need to make up their minds what they want.

I think there is a difference between racing and derby's (which is how I look at this). Really now, if that were you how would you feel? Kind of like you were taken out by another in the sport...

Seriously; in any other sport, that kind of action would be grounds for a "foul" or "yellow card" of some sort, and there would be a penalty in the match. Putting racers lives and careers at risk to please the crowd...? Get over yourselves, NASCAR, this is racing, not demolition derby.

Sometimes the fans want to have actions that are disastrous. NASCAR is just giving what the fans want. But it is very conflicting if they punish the driver who is just trying to entertain the people.

I would say that they should this nonsense. A race is a race and there shouldn't be any intentional bumps.

I knew it wouldn't be far into the season before a driver bumped into another driver and sent them flying. I remember that Nascar was changing the rules up a bit. I thought it was more for drafting though.
He was suspended for 3 weeks?

Yes, just 3 weeks. Again, you have to realize that NASCAR literally told the drivers at Daytona to go ahead and police each other. Therefore, they really have little choice but to not do much when the drivers follow their mandate. The only reason I think this reached the level it did was because Brad's car went into the air.
