    Supplies

When the drivers come into the pit to have their car checked for something it might need, where do the supplies come from? Who buys them? Are they given to them by the sponsors? Who pays for it?

I would assume that budget for supplies comes mainly from sponsors. It would take a big chunk on their paycheck if they would charge the supplies on team.

Are you talking gas? That's provided by Sunoco. Tires? Those are provided, too, by the sponsor -- Goodyear. NASCAR makes a decision on each level how many sets of tires each team gets.

I always wondered this as well. Thinking about it though it makes sense that the sponsors pay for their supplies. I wonder how much sponsors actually put out each year for supplies and such?

So if the sponsors pay for the supplies, then what do the owners pay for? I mean besides the drivers of course. Someone owns the drivers, correct?

This is what I don't know but I assume that the owners are responsible in promoting their team and their driver. The financial make-up of the racing teams differ and I hope someone could explain the general setup of who pays what.

Wow, these are some good question. It is good to see I am not the only one who is clueless about this stuff. I always assumed the driver received most supplies from their sponsors and paid for the rest.

I would think it would be like any other sporting event and the supplies are fully coming from sponsors. But then I don't know that for sure. It's just an educated guess.
