Omg, I laughed so hard earlier when reading an article. The writer referred to Nascar groupies as "waffle bellies" because of the "chain link fence tans" they get while watching a race. I had never heard this term before!![]()

I haven't seen that one, but I can understand how that would be true, in a humorous sort of way, of fans behind the fences. Of course, I've never been by the fence, so couldn't say for sure.
Raid, if you google it you'll see a lot of references to it. I just googled and there's even an website called WaffeBelly.com ... No kidding!!! WaffleBelly.com
That's hilarious. I wonder who originally coined the term.
It is a great term. It goes to show that people will make a website for just about everything in this crazy world of ours. I wonder what else is out there!
If there is a market there will be a domain name for it. I visit some webmaster sites and you would not believe the type of places that people think up. For me if anything I would shoot for something nuts like crazyracingknuckle.com or something on that line.
gak! work is just wrong in so many ways...
I have been watching Nascar for many years and I haven't heard that term before either. I guess people just have to categorize everyone, either that or they are jealous that they aren't there at the fence!
I'd be a waffle belly every weekend of the year if I could. lol It does sound rather derogatory if you think about it. I keep envisioning big bellies with major waffle iron burns.
