Has Anyone Here Went to See NASCAR Live?

My family has been watching NASCAR for years. Unfortunately, we have never had the opportunity to attend a live race. That would be the ultimate trip for us! Have any of you gotten to do this?

That's my situation, too. I've watched it a bunch, but I've never been to a race to take in all of these shows, like NASCAR Live. I would if I were there, though.

Yep, I've been to a handful. It's so much different in person. The noise. The crowds. The chaos. Plus the tail gating before and after is a blast as well. I'd much rather be there in person!

As I've posted elsewhere, I've been to the Phoenix race, a few things stand out, first its very different than in front of a TV, you can actually see the cars slide in the turns, second, its incredibly loud, wear ear plugs, otherwise your ears won't last the race. Third, the size of the crowd blew me away, I've never been at an event where so many people attended, the parking lot is also a site to behold, I've never seen that many parked cars, mind you, the organizers did a fine job getting people in and out after, while traffic was slow, it kept moving and we were not stuck in a traffic jam for hours on end. I did see a few tailgate parties in the parking lot, but the thing I could not understand was the amount of beer drunk, there were dozens of overfilled barrels with empty beer cans, that in itself was not surprising, what surprised me was the price, I think it was over $6.00 for a beer, makes for a rather pricey drunk and yes I saw a few drivers pulled over and in the midst of a sobriety test by the local constabulary, myself I waited to get back to the hotel, before indulging in some American near beer

Aside from the prices this is the ideal way to watch a race for me. I have been to Talladega, Daytona, and Darlington. I really would like to go to Atlanta and see a live race still.

I'm not sure I'd be able to sit that long...I mean when I watch the races at home, I'm doing other things too like eating, doing work on my laptop, etc. And on TV it follows the whole track and it's more close-up. I'd assume they have concession stands at NASCAR races, right?

    Yes, they have concession stands.
In all the years I've been involved with the sport, I can emphatically state that I have never visited a concession stand or washroom during a race, at home I might take a quick trip to the fridge but only during commercials and if I cannot catch the race on a different channel, in Canada F1 races are shown on TSN and Speed, if one channel goes to commercial, I switch to the other. My passion has not diminished after over 45 years of involvement in some form or another.

That sounds like so much fun! I just know my guys would love to attend a live race. Maybe it will work out that we can go to at least one live show this coming summer. Just how expensive are those tickets each? I'd like to have an idea of what I might need to save up to surprise them.
