Thread: Markus Niemelä tests Formula Atlantic

Markus Niemel? (FIN) has tested Formula Atlantic's for the first time in his life. He tested cars provided by Condor and Brooks at Button Willow race track.

"It couldn't have gone any better than it did. At Brooks test, Franck Perera who was 2nd in the series last year first setted the pace, and at the end I was a tenth faster than him with same car"

"Both Brooks and Condor offered me a contract for 2008. Like in GP2, the Atlantic's also get paid by their drivers, but some pay more than others" He said with a grin.

Markus Niemel? has been impressive thus far into the season, it may have been just the move he needed. With that said, the right move is definitely dependant on what he had in mind for the next step...

Niemela's move to the Atlantic Championship is looking even better, the Finnish driver won the series finale at Road Atlanta today, claiming the 2008 title. American driver Jonathan Bomarito had the overall points lead heading into the event but failed to finish the race due to a mechanical failure.

He is going back to europe and is aiming for GP2. Grats to Markus for winning the title in his first try!

He is actually testing an Indy Lights car for Sam Schmidt Motorsports on Thursday in Kentucky.
