Work on a Formula One standard circuit began near Moscow on Wednesday. It's reported that Hans Geist, formerly in charge of F1 projects in Austria and Bahrain, is to oversee the construction of the track, located 77 km's west of Moscow in the town of Volokolamsk.
The Hermann Tilke designed circuit, is going to be completed in 2010.
"The track will be designed to Formula One standards. But the operator may not necessarily have a Grand Prix, even if the opportunity would be accepted if presented," Geist said earlier this year.
Russian media said the cost of the project is estimated for $215m.
