    Drag Racing (NHRA)

We should have a section in here for drag racing as well. Mostly so I can talk about the Force girls. (J/k) Not sure how many others would be interested. I catch some updates on occasion. I lost interest in it for a while. I noticed that Kenny Bersien came out of retirement to drive for his son who had broken his back. Now he's in funny car. That guy has been racing (and winning) since I was born. Crazy

Well you can try. When I got here there were only 2 topics in the motorcycle series and only 1 in the Champ or Indy (I can't remember which) sections.

As much as I appreciate a blown small block, there's really only so much you can say about drag racing: "Yup, the car went straight, and it was fast. Even faster than the other guy."

Again, I don't consider this a sport, so much as much as an activity. Unlike a 'real sport', there is no 'defensive' or 'offensive' manuvers by the participants, in which one can take an advantage over the other. Besides practice and ingenuity. Hell, I think billiards is more of a sport (sans the physical challenge) than drag racing. That doesn't mean I want to hear about it.

As for the Force girls, talk about them here. I could care less how fast they go in a nitro powered funny car. If you ask nicely, maybe Jo will put an NHRA header for you.

I don't think drag racing should have its own section, but I do think that there should be an Other Racing Section that would cover any of the series that don't already have their own section here.

I just figured if anyone wanted to talk about it there wasn't really a good spot for it. It's probably best placed under the section with NASCAR. You're right about there not being a whole lot to say. Maybe new records, crashes, Force girls, etc.

You're right, there should be a section for WRF Community Members to discuss Drag Racing, as it is categorized as a form of motorsports. I don't find much joy in watching Drag Racing, because I like a race to be longer than a few seconds.

But I can see why it has its own fans. There are moments of tension and excitement. It's not easy either, but c'mon Salty, comparing it to billiards is a bit harsh

Yes, I'll admit it was a bit harsh. Sowwy.

I'm sure being in one going top speed in under 10 seconds is quite a rush.

As a peace offering to the NHRA fans, I sticky'd the thread. Here seems as good a place as any to talk about it.

And for your pleasure, a two minute promo for 'Driving Force' on A&E. I actually remember watching this. HI ASHLEY!

That is probably the best idea (the sticky). I'm sure it will be a slow section. (Hehehe slow+drag racing = loser)

Sticking the thread is a good thought. I also moved it into the 'Other Open-Wheel Motorsports' section, as it does fall under that category

I thought that too, but it really only applies to Top Fuel Dragsters and like 2-3 other cars. The rest are all regular wheel (closed?) cars.

I'm sure it's not the girls who are terrified of daddy. Could you imagine dating his baby girl and meeting Mr. Force for the first time? YIKES!

The girls are going to be at Pacific Raceway in Kent (Seattle) this weekend. No, I'm not going.
