Some recent Onboard Videos, Multi-Cam + Telemetry

    Guys,

Sorry I haven't dropped by in a while but thought i'd update you on some recent onboard race videos I've uploaded.

This last weekend I was racing in the Lotus Cup Europe at Zandvoort. The car was a Class A Lotus Elise S1. It was a guest drive as I work as Cheif Instructor for Lotus-on-Track who run trackdays in the UK for Lotus cars.

The car is unusual in that it is to be raced by Andy Green on 14th June at Snetterton. Andy Green is currently the fastest man in the world by virtue of holding the land speed record at around 760mph. The team are going for a new record in 2011 of 1,000mph (hence the number plate).

It will be Andy's first ever race to raise awareness for the Project. I have so far done 1/2 days coaching with Andy and we have another 1/2 day planned in early June.

The video system is the same as used in my previous onboards posted here, the VIDEO4 from Race Technology. After over 2 years in development it is finally due for public release at the end of this month

Position wise I qualified in 3rd, finished 3rd in Race 1 (above) and 2nd in race 2, unfortunately the fuse blew to the 12v supply whilst in the collecting area for race 2 so I have no onboard footage fromt his race.

The previous week to the above I had been racing in the MX5/Miata Championship in the UK. Effectively another guest drive in a rent-a-drive car.

This weekend was not so good as the one above. I had 3 races, in race 1 I crashed into a spinning car before T1 and had to retire. I finished 10th in Race 2 and in race 3 was going well until I came out of a corner only to see a can that had spun travelling backwards across the track in front on me, I went off track as far as possible but unable to avoid the impact which was quite a hit at around 70mph, forcing me to retire.

    Race 1, startline crash

    Race 3 crash

    Race 2, good close racing

In the race 1 crash the impact shook the power cable loose on the video so had to use a bit a creative [none] flair to simulate the impact.
