Slot Car Racing, is it really racing?

The boys at Speed Sport Life (who try all sorts of motorsports) entered a slot car race to try their hands at some miniature motorsports victory. The question is: Is slot car racing really a motorsport? You decide...

This kind of racing calls for a different set of skills, I guess.

I've never seen a slot track as big as the one in the photo. I wonder if slot car racing has become less popular as the gaming console race simulators have improved?

Krumar, I agree that it's a different set of skills, but I don't think it really counts as racing. :P I've never looked into it myself, nor do I have any friends who are into it. Has anyone out their followed it much?

I am not sure if you would call it racing, but it sure does look like fun. It might get kind of boring for the onlookers if it lasted to long..lol

I'm not sure what the appeal is here, could someone explain it to me? It seems pretty boring to me. Is the fun part the 'racing' or the watching?

I could see where this could be a lot of fun to compete in but rather boring to watch. I don't see it having the same rush as being inside the car when it is racing around the track though.

You could have the same argument for snail racing, is that really racing? I would say that's more boring than slot car racing. Each to their own I say.

I spent some time with the small tracks. I imagine it would be interesting watching a large track, assuming it was possible to wipe out if you didn't manage your speed going into the curves.

To answer the question, its not really racing. Its more about game.

I would rather watch a real race rather than watch the little cars going around the little track. But anyhow, everyone is entitled to their own enjoyment. This is just not for me.
