    Drag Racing

It seems when I was in high school I heard so much more about drag racing than I do now.

Is it more of a regional success these days? I've been looking around online a little and I get the impression it may be more popular in the southern US than in the northern states and Canada.

I don't see it around here and I am in NY. I hear about it from time to time but not like I used to. I wonder what parts of the states are into dragging now?

Well, here in Chicago we get a couple of series, and a couple more that are in easy traveling distance. But you're right, there are more in the southern states and out West.

It's not big here locally, but if you watch TV, you can catch it regularly on Speed and ESPN. It's just too dangerous in my opinion so I really don't watch it now.

I think if I do see it, it's probably less likely to be with the really long funny cars.

I guess there are lots more live pro sport events now than when I was in high school, not to mention TV channels. Maybe drag racing didn't do well in the competition for fans.

I think that it's just easier to have multiple drag racing tracks in the south and west because of the way residential and commercial area are spaced out - everywhere else is so crowded that tracks would have to be far drives away from everything else.
