Do you mind me asking what you need to do before a track day? and what sort of costs are involved? I would love to do one here in the UK (silverstone would be a good start.. heh) but i really dont know much about what is involved..
Depends on the clubs, some require a drivers license with three years experience. But no one asked me in the last day.
Register and pay the fee, ranges from 150-250 pounds.
Drive your car as much as you want, or 50/50. (50% of the days)
I am going this Sunday to Snetterton.
If you would like to hire a track car, such as a Lotus Elise, the car alone would cost around 700. Other cars such as Caterham, BMW's, MX5 are popular on track days.
If it's your first time on a track, you might need coaching from some of the instructors at the track. I think 30 pound per 30 minutes or an hour. Full day coaching costs 200-300.
Let me know if you are interested.

Nice!. Is that your first outing on this historic circuit?
Why are you interested, don't you need to know how to drive a car fast first?![]()

That's a regular driver's license right?
So how much does a lap or half day cost? Or I just pay the fee and then I can spend the whole day? And is lap timing included? Would be interested myself, maybe I'll take the two of you on if you're up for it![]()
My first ever drive in Europe, this track day was more lively than the Supercars race in Bahrain.
Yes, public roads license.
There are two type of track days, 50/50, where there will be two groups and the duration will be splitted between them. From 9AM Until 5 or 6 PM. So you will drive 50% of the day.
And there is the open pit lane, where you will have 100% of the duration.
Some track days offer night driving.
This is for track days where you will drive any car you want.
There is the driving experience, where the track offer some cars, from road legal cars to F1, and you will drive them for a short time or few laps. Just to experience the car.
Lap timing is not allowed in track days. (Don't tell anyone that I use it)
Track days are fun and good experience, but it's better to drive a track prepared car in order to push to the limit. Most of the road cars including Porsche, M3, M5 won't handle track driving for more than 30 minutes. Porsche GT3-R would do the job just fine
I will drive the same Lotus in the pics for the next track day, and I might drive an old M3 in March.
I think we should all gather for a track day at SPA![]()
Many things would be worn out, such as brakes, clutch, oil.
Should we go for this http://www.autotrackdays.com/Product...-may-2008.aspx
Would love to drive on Spa someday, I heard it's one of the coolest tracks to drive on.
Maybe in summer I will arrange something.

I heard that Snetterton is a nice track. Good luck with that!
Do you need to prebook for coaching? or can you just show up and find an instructor on the track?
I would quite like to use my car so hiring one is not an option. I would need to change a couple of things before it goes on track but it's getting there... alsogive it a good service to make sure everything is ok.. so I'll be looking to do it in the summer when I have a bit more free time.
