Andy Priaulx Comparing WTCC to F1

Three-time World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx talks to Kevin Garside about how winning in Touring Cars is harder than winning in F1.

    Who agrees who does not?

It depends how you look at it.

It's easier to win in F1 if you're driving a Ferrari or Mclaren. On the other hand its nearly impossible to win if you drive a Torro Rosso.

In WTCC the competition is harder because every car can compete to win races. That also means that everyone has a chance to win what can't be said in F1.

What about driving and racing the cars?

For me, I can jump in any WTCC car and complete races. But in F1, I would cause some disasters.

I also agree on that. A WTCC car is basically a regular car tuned very well which is very drivable.

Racing an F1 car takes much more precision because of the hard decceleration and acceleration and therefore has a very small margin for errors. They also have a bad visibilty which is practically zero sideways and rear view mirrors that has a very small view range and almost useless because of vibrations. This also explains why there are (in our eyes) stupid accidents of people closing the door when someone is trying to overtake them.

That's why racing with 20 or 22 other F1 cars is so much more difficult than being able to produce a good single lap.
