    I think he's crazy

My boyfriend wants me to be with him in the car while he street races. I think he's an idiot for doing it in the first place and won't do it with him. Am I being too tough on him?

No you're not tough on him, you are just being practical. Even if its a sanctioned race, you shouldn't be a passenger, except if you're the navigator.

I can't understand why some people are just careless about their life, in this case racing on streets.

No I don't think you are wrong! I think he is crazy and I think you would be crazy to get in while he street raced. I think he is crazy to street race. Anyway- just be careful and stay out of the car!

Oh, good. Thanks. I was worried that I was just not understanding what racing is about. I'm happy to navigate (when he lets me) as long as he's not racing others. It's just so stupid.

Absolutely not, he is being an idiot not only for street racing but for wanting you to be in the car with him, while he partakes in this extremely dangerous activity, just read or watch the news to find out just how dangerous and life altering street racing can be.

Do you know where I could find some resources that might convince him about how it's not safe and can change your life? I think he's seen too many Fast and Furious movies. :/

I think you need to get a new man. There are passengers for normal driving, there are trained/skilled/experienced navigators for actual planned events, and then there are those who are fools following the idiot who suggested it.

Sorry, I lost a friend this way in high school and I am completely against street racing along with people who decide its okay to ride along for the fun.

I agree with the above posters.

I haven't seen the Fast and Furious movies, but if there are behind the scenes features with them, it may be very educational for your boyfriend to see how much preparation goes into the stunts that are in the movies.

I'm sure they have specially constructed cars for some of the stunts, and obviously they shouldn't be tried on the streets with normal cars.

Street racing is illegal for a reason, and I definitely think it's not fair of him to expect you to join in that particular activity. If anything, he should want you out of the car so he has less weight on it. :P Of course, his best decision would be to just not race...

Maybe he opted to have her join in to avoid the whole "I don't want you to weigh my car down" talk. If he is smart that is, then again this is the same person who more than likely asked only to say "it will be fun, come on".
