    Fighting the Urge

We all love fast cars, and some get to actually drive them more often than others. But when you're on the road, and perhaps it's nighttime and you've got miles of open highway ahead of you...how do you keep yourself from letting the speed demon loose (if you can)?

Personally, I have to put on soothing music and tell myself to enjoy the scenery rather than speed by it sometimes!

Going straight down a highway, really doesn't do much for me, no matter what speed, now if the road gets twisty, well, that another story

I just take my time. I try not to be in a hurry in my life. It seems to be less stressful that way. Besides, if I drive normal instead of speeding, that is more time I have to myself, alone, in my car.

One of my favorite cars I used to drive was a Toyota Supra. The wide stance gave it such great handling that whenever I was up in the mountains it took everything I had not to go all out, lol. Even when I was driving at a safe speed, friends in the car would tell me I looked like I was having too much fun.

I don't fight the urge, I have tamed it. Gone are the days where I would speed up just because I wanted to. I have seen several car accidents already and I don't want ending up like those victims of those accidents.

I usually have my kids in my car so that does it for me. When I was younger and didn't have kids I used to be a leadfoot from time to time. I have seen what excessive speed with no training can do though and I am not risking myself or my family.

I have a quotation written besides my dashboard. It says "the speed that thrills is the speed that kills". This stops me from flooring the accelerator and keeps my car under speed limit.
