    Racing blues

For those who do this even part time or not, I just wonder if you get the racing blues on the days when say you are rained out (to watch a race on tv or participate in your own. Right now I am not a racer but I hate dealing with rain and its been nonstop for 6hrs now and I am just a little bored with it already.

I watch races rain or shine, been to races where I got soaked to the bones.
The toughest time for me is winter, when there is no racing, I'm going through withdrawals and count the days to the first race in the New Year, usually the Daytona 500, just about the only NASCAR race I watch on ovals, then its downhill from there to the Daytona 24 hours, Sebring and of course the start of the F1 season. I stay up for the Australian and Asian races, I might take a nap and set the alarm clock sometime, just to make sure I won't miss it, European races will catch me setting the alarm clock to 06:30 on Sunday morning, what can I say, its my religion
I manage to catch the odd British, German and Australian touring car series during the cold months, this almost ties me over till the new season, beside F1, I'm addicted to just about any series on road courses, ALMS, Rolex, etc.
The shakes usually subside by around May or June

The shakes? That must be similar to what I feel when my net goes out.

Really though a friend of mine raced just local stuff in his 20's or so in Maryland and the outskirts and it always drove him nuts to deal with this, in the winter for him I think he just partied more.

Well I don't get depressed but I get very disappointed when a race is rained out. I have sat through the rain and them drying the track as well just to finish a race. I usually have so much going on when they take the break at the end of the year that I just have that time to do other things, but I do miss it.

I would think it would be similar to the way I feel when my kids are out of school! lol For summer break I'm constantly like "is it September yet?!" Racers probably feel the same way!

I can relate to that, creg. Nothing sets my evening in a tailspin faster than coming home and finding out the computer has crashed or the internet server is down.
