The event's 17 stages are made of fine and sandy gravel with a hard-packed base below and are surprising fast, given their tight, narrow nature. This provides a stern challenge for drivers who must balance the desire to push with the need to avoid the numerous stones and rocks that litter the roadside - especially on the second pass.
This time in Sardinia Loeb can't make any mistakes like last year, I think his errors for this year have been done already. I believe it's going to be a 3 man fight between Loeb, Hirvonen and Latvala. Hirvonen who is leading the championship is therefore forced to get on the stages as first. There is going to be tactics involved again thats for sure.
"Because I lead the championship, I'm first in the start order on Friday. That's never the best place on a dry gravel rally because the first car cleans the loose stones and those behind have a better driving line."
