Tommi Makinen’s roll from Rally Argentina 2002 has been rated the WRC’s most spectacular crash after a month-long vote.
Since the WRC poll started on 5 April, the 20 shortlisted video clips have been rated more than 110,000 times, with the Finn’s high-speed tumble consistently scoring highest.
With a final average score of 8.43 from a maximum ‘spectacular’ rating of 10, the Subaru driver finished just ahead of another South American smash - Markko Martin’s from 2004 - which scored 8.27.
Petter Solberg’s 2004 clash with the concrete blocks of Rally Deutschland was rated third with an average score of 7.92.
