Major DTM Accident at Hockenheim 2007

The first race of the DTM season resulted in a 1-2 victory for Audi, with Mattias Ekstr?m winning ahead of German Martin Tomczyk. The event was overshadowed by a major accident on the opening lap.

Tom Kristensen spun across the track after contact with his team mate Timo Schneider. The oncoming Alexander Premat could not avoid Kristensen and hit the drivers' side of the car at about 160 km/h

Fortunately, Kristensen escaped uninjured, while Premat suffered a cracked lumber vertebra. He is expected to make a full recovery
