Lada 110's in the WTCC 2008

Yesterday WTCC updated their entry list and much surprisingly there were to Lada 110's on there. They will be raced by Russian Bears Motorsport and will have no factory backing. Drivers are Dutch driver Jaap van Lagen and Russian Viktor Shapovalov.

Jaap is expecting the car to be about 5 seconds too slow at the beginning of the season but is hoping it will improve. Van Lagen will be paid to drive the car and this will help him fund his "real" drive for 2008 in the Porsche Supercup.

There have been rumours about factory Ladas entering before but they've never materialised.

I can't wait for pictures of how these cars will look in their full Super 2000 form.

Whatever it will look like, I'm sure it will be a major improvement when compared to their conventional passenger cars over the past decades

This is supposedly what it currently looks like.

I think the blockyness of the car makes it look like a good old nineties Super Tourer. Very retro!

What's up with the Jr. High shop-class wing That looks plain hokey to me. And I get the whole wider-stance idea, but the front wheels and fenders look... Well,.

I expected it to look cheap, and I wasn't dissapointed Good luck Lada! Maybe they'll start a trend, and Yugo and Kia can be back markers too

I think DriverDB is joking. Also have a hard time believing they will be starting with something this ugly

Well, I was joking about liking it. But it is the car model they are going to race with. Here's an image of what the car looked like when Lada presented their 2006 WTCC challenger (which never appeared). This time Lada is not involved though as this is a private entry.
