    Major Crash Ortelli Le Mans Series at Monza

    Yesterday Ortelli crashed at Monza and nearly missed another car while flying by.

    That was a crazy crash, apparently the driver ended up with a broken ankle!

    I'm glad he's alright after going off at such a high speed! What was the reason? It looked like something broke at the rear end...

    For some reason the car blocked the rear end. Probably a gearbox failure.
    They already made changes on the flat chassis of these cars to prevent flying when too much air gets underneath the car as what happened to many Mercedes LMS cars. This one got aired when he hit the grass.

    Here's another example of a Merc getting aired

    That is a Porsche GT1. Not a Mercedes CLK.
