Are You Going to Buy Windows Vista?

I had to opportunity to test the RC1 version of Vista, and it was pretty good. Am going to wait a bit though as it's still very early and many applications still have some problems in the new Vista enviornment.

Feature-wise it's great, especially the revised GUI

I won't buy a stand-alone version but as my current computer is on the verge of going to silicon hell (it died on me yesterday, but thankfully a new power supply was all that was needed) I'll probably get Vista bundled with my next computer.

After upgrading the memory in my laptop to two gigs, I switched to Vista (SP1) yesterday. Last time I used it was a year and a half ago (RC2), and I'm really getting cozy with it.

One of my biggest surprises was that the new version of Windows Live Messenger did not work due to an internal misconfiguration Vista causes to certain routers. But I found a fix quickly

Sure, I have less memory for some of the heavier applications I use, but it's worth it

Vista is a piece of garbage. So much so, that it seems even Microsoft doesnt want any part of it. In any case, im now a Mac boy!

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) -- Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer kicked off the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show on Wednesday with an impassioned endorsement of PCs and a sneak peek at the company's future Windows 7 operating system.
"We are on track to deliver the best version of Windows ever," Ballmer told an audience of several thousand tech professionals and journalists inside a cavernous ballroom at the Venetian hotel. "We're working hard to get it right and get it ready."
Without mentioning the security and compatibility issues that have dogged Vista, Ballmer promised that Windows 7 will make PCs faster and easier to use. He didn't offer a timetable for its official release, although Windows Vista went on sale more than two years after it was issued in beta form.

My computer died last year, and as all the new computers were loaded with vista, I had one built with XP

Oh, and my browser choice is Firefox

Windows 7 is slated for release sometime this year ... possibly by June/July.

Word is that Microsoft is worried about losing market share in netbooks cos they won't run Vista worth a damn.

The tests look good, but I'll hang on to XP for a while longer.

I don't want to upgrade! Remember when windows ME came out? I do, my boss does as it cost us a lot of money, time and heartache. I've heard windows vista will be the new ME, so we're sticking with XP for the time being.
