    Considering an Apple Mac Mini

Im thinking about buying one of these Apple mini's. My computer is starting to get ancient. Im still running an old AMD 1.2 ghz thunderbird processor. I have replaced a lot of components already....motherboard, video card, RAM. I still get the thing crashing and rebooting quite a bit. It says video device driver. I update it and it still does it. Ive had it in shops. It gets old real fast!

Well, I heard that Apple doesnt get all these random crashes or error messages all the time that the PC's do. So, Im seriously considering an Apple. I have a new LCD monitor, keyboard and mouse so all I need is the mini. It looks like a cool little desktop. It has a Pentium Core 2 Duo processor at 2.0ghz.

Anyone have experiences with these systems or Apple or IMAC in general ?

Well I had a friend who's Mac caught on fire, so they aren't invulnerable to problems.

Besides a true man uses real unreliable PC's.

Back in uni the system administrator had to come and reinstall the OS after my first 30 minutes with MacOS.
That was however not OS X as this was in 2002 or something.

Being your only computer, the Mac will destroy your gaming possibilities. Mac's look cool, cost twice as much as pc's and the service issues might get hard if you don't have Mac service nearby. I'm all for pc's. If I ever need a laptop just for reading emails and such minor operations, then I might consider a Mac

I've had this Mac for about a month now, and the PC is still up and running too, but I rarely, if ever use it. I still have a LOT to learn about using the Mac to it's fullest (gotta find time first).

It's so user friendly, and easy to use. Not to mention incredibly fast. A whole pile of really neat preloaded stuff, and I have't scratched the surface. I'm not a huge 'puter gamer, so I have no imput on that front. So far my favorite thing on here is the Dashboard

There's the odd bug, but given time, I'll figure it out, or can live with it

I'm a bit of a PC Whiz so I'll be glad to help you out. How bout you post a description of your problem in a new thread and I'll try to help . If it doesn't work, then you can consider a new PC

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I heard the gaming isnt good on it due to the lack of an expensive video card but I dont do games on my PC, thats why I have an XBOX. Im still deciding right now. I will let everyone know when I update.

And JO, sounds good, I will post a new thread about my specific problem. Just to let you know, twice now a blue screen comes up with a bunch of writing and numbers on it, some type of message. I wish I could print it off but dont know how since the computer is locked up and wont do anything. I guess I could write everything down.

If you're at all into racing games than XBOX and any other console is garbage.

Racing on the PC is infinitely better. Rfactor, GTR, F1 games, GP Legends, etc

I like the XBOX for racing games. I got my steering wheel, pedals and seat. Very nice. The reason I opted for the XBOX is so I can play my IndyCar Series game. I still have yet to buy Nascar 08.
