It's been rumored for months and now the rumors have been confirmed. Software giant Microsoft has offered Yahoo an acquisition deal valued at $44.6 billion, or $31 per share, a week ago

It would be the biggest takeover in the history of Silicon Valley. Google is trying to interfere by offering Yahoo a partnership that would still see the pioneering portal of the early 90s relinquish control of its search engine and a large part of advertising revenues.

There is a lot at stake. In my opinion, the Internet cannot afford a googlized Yahoo. If Microsoft is successful, there will be at least a decent battle between two large powers on the Internet

Well... This deal came to an end as the contract was broken by Yahoo!
