Splitting Large Files To Two DVD's ? Help!

I just dloaded 1st 'dvd' from Lost season 3 and now I have a problem. The files total 7.17G so it's not going to fit into one normal dvd. I've heard that there are programs somewhere in the interweb which can split up the files for 2 dvd's. Anyone know any of these or can help me with some other way?

I had that same problem, and I did do some looking for a DVD compression software, but for the MAC, there were about 3 different progs I had to DL to Rip/Compress/Burn

Dual Layer DVD's cost a little more, but they are by far the easiest solution for myself...

Try searching 'DVD Shrink' on Google

You can get the official box with all the episodes from season 3 cheaper than buying dual layer dvd's, so that is not the option here.

I'll try to find some "shrink" ware...

Yea it will take up space, which is why I got myself a new external with 320 GB. A movie can take between 700 MB and 1.4 GB (typical quality / compression ratio).

DVD Shrink is the best thing for that. I've been using it for years. It's free as well.

Ok what I heard from my friend yesterday that these shrinking programs just actually shrink the file in smaller space with cost of quality. I'm not looking for that. I want a program that is able to put all those .vob and .whatever files together and "calculate" them so it can be burned to two dvd's. I found one FREEWARE program yesterday which does this but it quitted being freeware after 5 minutes causing me to get HULK effects around the house...

Partly true. One of the features will allow for the removal of all the bonus stuff, previews and audio types you may not want. If you don't have DTS capabilities then you can remove the DTS audio (which is a large chunk) etc. Sometimes you will have to lose some quality but it is minimal. If you aren't watching HD movies then it's mostly negligible. You could give it a test run and see if you like it.

For what you end up spending on a couple of spools of DVD's you can get a bigger HD, I've found with a little housekeeping, I very seldom burn a DVD unless I'm backing up zipped files! Get a video card with TV/ S video out!

If you use Winamp remote, you can log on and watch your video, or listen to your music from any PC!
