First let me state that I was already married (still am) to a wonderful woman.
I never did it for the "chicks", the only gratification I ever got out of it was the look and comments from the ones that shared the experience of going around the track in a race car.
It is something that I learned from a good friend of mine, in Geneva Switzerland. Florian Vetsch was a rising start in the Swiss racing community in the late sixties, I was lucky enough to know him and to become a friend, he was tremendously enthusiastic behind the wheel of a car (he was and still is a great guy just to shoot the breeze with, I saw him last just over two years ago) and I had the fortune to share some of his enthusiasm as a passenger in his cars on occasion (before I had my drivers license).
I never forgot that and told myself that should I be lucky enough to be able to race cars and have the opportunity to share some of the enthusiasm that rubbed off from Florian, I would love to pass it on, luckily I was racing as a member of the Winnipeg Sports Car Club and the race directors in charge of the race meets saw the benefit of taking people around the track, needless to say that I was thrilled to be able to participate in this.
Selfishly, I never raced for anyone else, but for my own thrill, I could care less about what other people (chicks) though of me, my only motivation was the love of the sport, period.
To this day I'd give just about anything to strap myself behind the wheel of a race car, I'm addicted to the sport and proud of it.
