    History Mystery - Case 9 (F1) [CLOSED]

During the final seconds of a qualifying session in 2000, a driver was able to snatch the pole position from Michael Schumacher despite making what seemed like a big mistake in Sector II of the track.

    1. Who was the driver?
    2. How much faster was he than Michael Schumacher?
    3. Where was the Grand Prix taking place?

    Good Luck

I honestly haven't got a clue, but I'll guess the following:

    1) David Coulthard
    2) Between 0.5 seconds and 2 seconds?
    3) European GP

I think I heard something about it, is it Mika?

Whether Mika or David, I am thinking it's one of them, because they had good performance at that time.

It was Mika Hakkinen , but two questions remain unanswered: How much faster was he than Michael Schumacher and where was the Grand Prix taking place?

Was it Hakkinen by .091 at the 2000 San Marino GP?

    Correct!

Michael Schumacher topped Hakkinen's initial time, then Hakkinen went out in the last seconds of the qualifying and took it back again.

In the second picture you can see where and how Hakkinen went wide. Remember that the time you see there is in fact before he made the mistake, which makes his last sector effort even more impressive
