    women drivers?

Does anyone know of any women drivers? It seems like mostly everyone who is engaged in the sport is a male. I'd be interested in learning about some female drivers, if they exist.

Ever heard of Danica Patrick, Sarah Fisher, Katherine Legge, Milka Dunno, Janet Guthrie, Desire Wilson, Ashley Force and many more?
Those are just some of the best known, recent and current drivers.

Danica Patrick is one of the more famous ones right now. You might check her out. My wife really enjoys watching her race-- she's her favorite female.

Too many other people beat me to this. To be honest the only one I knew was Danica. I've never heard of the others, so thanks! I'm going to check them out and get to know them.

It is always interesting to watch a race that has a lady driver in it, and I am not just saying that. I have also seen few bike gals and I do wish more would get into these sports - very fun to watch.

Danica Patrick is the only one I have ever seen personally. I wonder why more women don't race or do they and it's just at lower levels?

Its a tough sport for women to break through, just like its tough to think of women hockey players or boxers or wrestlers, those sports have been male dominated pretty much from the beginning so its awfully hard for women to break through the barriers in order to get the support they need to make a mark on the sport of their choosing.
I have no problem with women in anything they choose to do, as long as they show a genuine interest and competence in their chosen field.
When I first started racing in Europe in the late sixties, the only women in the pits were girlfriends and wifes, when I was racing in the late seventies, early eighties, in Canada, there were at least two women competing as well, one of them was really outstanding as a car racer and earlier when I competed in car rallies there were very good women rally drivers and my best navigators were women, former girlfriends and the one who became my wife and no she is not standing over my shoulders, watching what I'm typing

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm excited to look into them and learn more. It seems as if there are more than I thought there would be.

I think in hockey for example, there are organized leagues for girls that lead to international competition.

I assume that in racing, the women who get into it don't have the option of a specific women's circuit or organization?
